Hale Avenue Townhomes taking shape in Avondale.

Late last year, the Avondale Development Corporation broke ground on Phase One of its Hale Avenue Townhomes project – a phased affordable housing project on Hale Avenue between Harvey Avenue and Hallwood Place. When completed, the project will feature 24 townhomes.

Hale Avenue Townhomes ensures housing choices that respect and sustain a vibrant Avondale. It introduces new housing that serves unmet demands, improves the marketability of all housing in Avondale and encourages housing in areas of development momentum, building on and supporting future developments of scale

Seven new townhomes with two- and three-bedroom units comprise Phase One. The units will cost between $230,000 and $260,000, price points geared toward families making 120% of the area median income. Construction is slated for completion in 2022.

The project is noteworthy for primarily being supported by entities owned and operated by people of color; Kaiker Development & Construction, owned by Kai Lewars, is the general contractor for the project. The project is being funded by the Community Development Fund and First Financial Bank, with subsidies from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the City of Cincinnati.
