UCI and ADC: Partners for a better Avondale.

The Uptown Consortium, Inc. (UCI) has made a remarkable impact on the Uptown neighborhoods, including Avondale, from spearheading the I-71 interchange at Martin Luther King Boulevard to facilitating more than $1.4 billion in development projects, inducing more than $2.4 billion in total project investments throughout Uptown.

UCI and the Avondale Development Corporation have partnered on many projects over the years, focusing mainly on community engagement. Our latest partnership has been the Digital Inclusion Project, for which ADC provided community engagement support. The goal of this project is to work with residents to gather data aimed at furthering the goal of digital inclusion, with a specific focus on Avondale. This data will be used to develop a preliminary action plan that can be undertaken by both public and private sector partners to provide affordable, robust broadband internet service.

Founded in 2004, members of the organization include Uptown Cincinnati’s largest employers and the area’s leading tourist attraction: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, UC Health, TriHealth, the University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. These anchor institutions shared the idea that they could accomplish more — for themselves and the Cincinnati neighborhoods where they live and work — by working together.
