The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden helps sponsor Avondale Day, a variety of activities centered on health and community building.

Avondale Day features the Avondale Festival & Health Fair, Black Men’s Health Forum and the 5K Avondale Feet in the Street walk and run. Avondale Day is a lifeline to at-risk African American families, providing health screenings, counsel and important information in the context of a day-long festival for friends and family.

Founded in 1875, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is the second oldest zoo in the United States and was appointed as a National Historic Landmark in 1987. It houses more than 500 animals and 3,000 plant species. A 2019 USA Today reader’s choice ranking named the Cincinnati Zoo the top zoo in North America.
