Economic Mobility Fund Reimagined for the COVID-19 Pandemic

Originally developed to help Avondale residents at risk for displacement due to increased development in the neighborhood, the Avondale Economic Mobility Fund has been modified to be responsive to immediate needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Article The Avondale Economic Mobility Fund is a grant program originally designed to help at-risk Avondale families avoid displacement due to new development and investment in the neighborhood. Funded by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and jointly administered by Avondale Development Corporation and The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB), the first two rounds of the EMF provided 40 grants of $1,000 to help residents of TCB properties.

In the third round of the EMF, grants of up to $1000 will be provided to any Avondale resident to ensure the availability of shelter, and provide resources that assist our residents ability to social distance and access resources in the midst of this global pandemic. Residents will also be eligible to participate in virtual financial literacy workshops to help enhance their budgeting skills.

“We face unique challenges with a large number of our residents with regard to adhering to guidelines designed to stop the spread of COVID-19,” said ADC CEO Russ Hairston.
