Innovation Greenway

The Uptown Consortium, Inc. – a long and valued partner of Avondale Development Corporation – continues to move forward in planning for the Innovation Greenway, a project that will bring great value to our neighborhood.

The Greenway, incorporated into developments centered on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Reading Road, is envisioned as a multi-acre space designed to improve physical, social and cultural connectivity between the developments and the surrounding neighborhoods of Avondale and Corryville. It is intended to be an outdoor place of convergence where scientists, researchers and employees working in the adjacent buildings can come together with neighborhood residents to enjoy activities such as a local farmer's market, arts and cultural events, food and beverage festivals, outdoor games and quiet reflection. UCI recently received a grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to continue its planning and design for the Greenway.

In keeping with its focus on community involvement, UCI has been working with ADC to engage Avondale community organizations and residents around the updated conceptual Innovation Greenway plans. These efforts included a virtual open house where residents reviewed plans, asked questions and provided feedback in real time using a technology platform called Miro. UCI continues to incorporate community input in all planning and design phases to ensure the Greenway reflects the community’s needs.

Upon completion, the Innovation Greenway will provide accessible, quality greenspace for the Uptown community at large, create direct linkages to the Avondale community and support an accessible and flexible environment while advancing community health and resiliency. The result will be a signature green space and recreation greenway that directly enhances connectivity to the Avondale and Corryville neighborhoods. All of Uptown and Walnut Hills will benefit from increased access to nature.
