Groundbreaking Nears for Housing Development — Avondale Development Corporation

Avondale Development Corporation’s Hale Avenue Townhomes project is a three-phase development that will bring 24 new townhomes for workforce housing to the northwest corner of Hall and Hallwood avenues in Avondale. Significantly, it is the first housing development of its kind to be undertaken by a community development organization in Avondale in the past 20 years.

Hale Avenue Townhomes is a major element of ADC’s goal of ensuring housing choices that respect and sustain a vibrant Avondale. This new housing serves unmet demands, improves the marketability of all housing in Avondale and will encourage housing in areas of development momentum, building on and supporting future developments of scale.

Groundbreaking for phase one of Hale Avenue Townhomes is slated for October 2019. This first phase will feature seven new townhomes: two two-bedroom, 1,588 square foot units and five two-bedroom, 1,439 square foot units. Sales prices will be $170,000 for the two-bedroom units and $205,000 for the three-bedroom units. All seven units will be sold to households that earn no more than 115% of the area median income, thanks to grants from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the City of Cincinnati. The Uptown Consortium is serving as ADC’s development partner in this project, primarily in an advisory capacity.

Construction on phase one is expected to take 10 months, with completion anticipated in the second quarter of 2020.
