ADC: Where we are, where we're headed
As befitting the development arm of Cincinnati’s hottest neighborhood, the Avondale Development Corporation is active on a wide variety of fronts in its mission to improve our neighborhood.

Two of our larger projects involve housing and neighborhood assessment.
The Avondale Housing Strategy is a data-driven, all-encompassing plan that will provide the framework for addressing the housing needs and opportunities in Avondale. The strategy will provide guidance not just to ADC but other neighborhood, business and community leaders in making decisions about where to allocate resources and how to create partnerships with developers and other housing service providers. The Strategy will also result in the creation of funding mechanisms to move from planning to action. The Uptown Consortium continues to play an important role in the development of this plan.
New housing at The Pointes at Avondale
Few areas impact the health and well-being of a neighborhood more than housing. Strengthening and expanding Avondale’s housing stock – and ensuring more residents can stay in their homes – is a primary focus of ADC. In addition to the three-phase, 24-unit Hale Avenue Townhomes project, set to break ground in October 2019, ADC provides financial help to fix up distressed residential properties, assistance with single-family and rehab projects and financial literacy classes to help homeowners and renters better manage their resources. Additional ADC-led developments are also in the planning stage.
Avondale Feet in the Street 5K & Health Initiative
ADC is also nearing the completion of its Quality of Life study, designed to capture residents’ visions for Avondale and turn those visions into achievable projects. In addition to street layouts and housing and retail needs, QoL takes a broader look at the whole community – schools, parks, safety, organizing, social services and opportunities for economic advancement. Neighborhoods that have a strong plan are better able to realize their vision, rather than be swept along in development. This effort comes at the perfect time for Avondale. Partners in this effort include Local Initiative Support Corporation and the Community Building Institute.
Of course, these are just the bigger items. We work for, in and with Avondale every day, from maintaining a robust resident communications effort to hosting events like Barbershop Talk, Pitching for Peace, the GoVibrant Million Step Challenge, Taste of Avondale and our Annual Feet in the Street 5K Run/Walk.
We are proud to serve Avondale. And we’re excited about its future.
