2020 in Avondale
Russell Hairston, ADC Executive Director
2020 is shaping up to be another active year for the Avondale Development Corporation and for Avondale – Cincinnati’s hottest neighborhood.
The Avondale Quality of Life plan is currently working through the City approval process. The QOL Internal Team presented the plan to the Avondale Community Council in November, where it received unanimous approval. The City Planning Commission approved the plan this month, and we’re now preparing for a presentation to City Council’s Economic Growth and Zoning Committee. The final step will be approval by City Council. The goal is for all QoL approvals to be complete in the first quarter of 2020 and for a community-wide rollout and celebration in early March. And then it’s on to implementation.
The data-driven, all-encompassing Avondale Housing Strategy is also nearing completion and is set to be deployed in 2020. Implementation will begin with identifying funding mechanisms and breaking ground on the three-phase, 24-unit Hale Avenue Townhomes project.
2020 also marks the final year of our three-year strategic plan. As we continue to execute against this plan, we will be preparing a new one to guide our next three years. Much has changed since 2017. Our new plan will take those changes into account and position ADC to play a leading role in the revitalization of Avondale moving forward.
Those are just the highlights. Throughout the year, ADC will also be hosting events, offering classes and seminars, keeping residents up to date on issues and projects that impact them and working with the area’s leading businesses and organizations to create jobs and economic opportunities for Avondale residents. And we will continue to lead organizing, engagement and advocacy efforts in Avondale to foster a community of neighbors who know each other and work together for common goals.
